D700 High ISO and ADR shots
I feel completely neutral. I was overjoyed, then I was slumped in depression. Now I am neutral. No really!
It took me about 3 hours to calm down from the excitement of actually using my new D700 that arrived today. The arrival was fairly boring - but using it! Wow. I've not been impressed by a camera/lens combination like this for some time. Had to write about it. The Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 is solid. The whole thing feels like a handgun more than a camera. Of course, before I could finish the test shots, a solicitor turned up (at 8.30pm - cheeky bitch) and served me with papers related to a business I owned 2 years ago :( Anyway - To more important matters:
There's plenty of previews describing the body/controls/size so run over to DPReviews or somewhere to look that up.
I've just got some fresh High ISO pics and AutoADR pics that I've been drooling over. All shots are taken using Vivid colour mode.
The first is very subtle - converting to JPG doesn't do it any favours. In RAW the difference is more apparent. I Exported these from Lightroom without touching them to try and show the ADR effect - the highlights and shadows are not so extreme and there is more saturation in both:
ADR Off:

And ADR On:

Also a few High ISO comparisions:

I used to get the same noise as the 12800 shot with my 5D in low light at 1600 - so I'm happy. Check out the test shots - there are also some shots of a glass I took at F/16. - Incredible detail and no noise at 6400!
